Direct Black 2

Direct Black BT is a synthetic direct dye for coloring cellulosic fibers like cotton and linen, known for its deep black color and ease of use. It is a water-soluble azo dye that can be applied directly to fibers without a mordant, often in a slightly alkaline bath. The dye is also used in the textile, paper, and ink industries and is suitable for applications like tie-dyeing and batik.

Applications

  Textile dyeing: Used for coloring cellulosic fibers like cotton, viscose,    and rayon, as well as silk.

  Leather: Applied to color leather goods and finishes.

  Paper: Used to dye paper and paper products.

   Rubbing fastness: 4-3

   Prespiration fastness: Moderate

Handling 

To handle direct black 2, store it in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated area in sealed containers to prevent moisture exposure. When using it, wear personal protective equipment like gloves, goggles, and appropriate clothing to avoid skin and eye contact. For dyeing, dissolve the powder in water and apply using standard dyeing processes for textiles or paper, ensuring a consistent and even application. 

Storage

  Storage: Keep the dye in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place to                   maintain its quality.

  Containers: Store the powder in its original, sealed HDPE bags to           protect it from moisture.

  Shelf life: When stored correctly, it has a shelf life of up to two years.
